Wedding Clearance Sale

Was into this mood of clearing my wedding stuffs lately. The banquet is over, the ROM is over, the whole wedding episode is closed like a finished book and had been put aside for 3 months untouched. I had long wanted to auction off my stuff.. but was too lazy to do so. Lately, I finally started to post all my wedding items for sale on line.

The inital response kick off pretty well, people acutally start emailing me for information and pictures. But this died down as fast as it had started off. Well.. Managed to clear 1 or 2 items though.. One of which is my beloved kua.. Regretted selling it at a low price. Kua these days dont come cheap.. Sighz.. and also my pair of kua shoes.. also at a very low price... I guess I am just not cut out for business.. Too honest in everything.. Cant make money this way.... The nice touch however was I managed to befriend my buyers. To me, its interesting to know brides to be as I enjoy sharing my pictures and experience with them. They are going through a stage which I had been through before and hence, I understand very well how they are feeling. Sadly, my friends still have a few more years to go.. Its nice just sharing with each other your experiences and worries...

Well.. I am meeting another potential buyer today. This buyer seems very sincere as she is willing to make her way from work to my house and later back to her home in Jurong. Hopefully able to sell of a few things in the process.. Haha, I posted my mum's dresses online too (as she commented if I could help her sell off her dresses as well).. And was being chided for it. She claimed that I am selling it too low and stuff.. and that she cant bear to sell off her dress at such a low price like me.. blah.. blah.. blah.. I ended up cancelling the posting of her dress..

Guess I have to be more patient with this stuff.. Notice some brides acutally took a few months to clear their stuff. Needless to say, me with so many different gadgets and stuff.. it is definitely not easy to find the right buyer... I used to be a bride and had used to buy and ask stuff from other forummers too.. I was equally fussy.. So have to be patient with this game...

Wedding Dates

The wedding date had been set.. Based on my discoveries.. people usually conduct a solemnisation ceremony first before having their actual wedding dinner. Hmmm.. guess thats what I would like to have too... Since the house is still a question mark.. The following had been decided. Solemnisation on 23 June 07 (close to our dating date of 25 June 01..) besides 23 is in relation to the proposal date. And Chinese wedding ceremony shall commence on 15 March 08. (To be honest.. I do not know why we chose this date but 15 March it shall be..)

New Discovery

2I am so happy today.. Its almost like I had struck gold!! Haha...I found the perfect information source... www.singaporebrides.com.sg/forum. It had so many tips and advice on wedding and home renovations.. The best part of it all.. The information comes from people who are experiencing the same level of excitement, worries, etc as me.. And the advice they had given are so true as they had been through the process themselves.. Well.. many hours will be spent reading these stuff..

Wedding Preparations

Soon after the proposal, I sprung almost immediately into action! I started surfing endlessly on the intranet for information. I even bought several wedding magazines to search for wedding ideas and stuff..

I always had this dream of having a fairytale wedding that is so much like the princes and princesses in those childhood fairytale stories where the couple live happily everafter.. Many venues popped into my mind.. I had considered the Jurong Birdpark.. the Singapore Zoo, etc as the "ideal wedding" venue..

Little did I know that organising a wedding is so much work and costs.. A mere wedding dinner in a typcial Chinese restaurant could easily chalk up $20,000 in just one night.. Whooo... thats a whole lot of money and lots of savings to be spent!!! Scary....

Lucky, leo and I had started a savings plan since we started dating. From a mere $50 per month, we had gradually increased the amount over the years and had managed to save a rather substantial amount to pull us through the major expenses that will be coming along the way.. The building of our dream home, the dream wedding and finally the dream honeymoon... The amount to be spent?? Priceless....

The Wedding Proposal

Just not too long ago, my parents are starting to pester me on the "M" word. Asking me to start considering a house purchase. Well.. indeed my target was to get married by the age of 25 and I am already 23 this year moving on to my targeted age real soon..... We have not gotten a house, no house plans, no wedding plans, etc...

Finally. on the marked date of 23rd December, my boyfriend of 5 YEARS finally popped the question!! Yippee!!! Well.. thinking back, the way he did it was rather comical and silly.. but... sweet... I AM SO GETTING MARRIED!!
It was 2 days before Christmas and there were many shoppers on the streets of Orchard Road.

We were strolling along the streets just like the rest of the crowd.. busy taking silly pictures and stuff..

As the time draws towards midnight, he stopped in front of Takashimaya entrance.. and told me to close my eyes.. At this time.. he took out a cute furry little bear.. I was like ..ok so that is what he is gonna give me? A bear?? Well.. I fiddled a little with the bear.. and he told me to look closer at the scarf that was tugged around the bear's neck.. Lo and behold... something sparkles before my eyes... It was the long awaited ring... He finally proposed!!! Well.. not exactly my dream settings of a romantic venue nor the usual cliche kneeling and proposing.. but still.. HE PROPOSED... Can you imagine my excitement at that time?

Unwilling to let my dream proposal whisked past.. I made him kneel down for the proposal which he obediently did... Awww... So Sweet... Enjoy the cute little moment of the way he proposed that day... heheeehee... It may be an old way of proposal. But to me, this is an evergreen form of proposal. Its the sweetest and most romantic form of proposal.
